We hope you are considering submitting an abstract for our 2026 CES/ACMS Conference, which will take place at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, from May 27-30, 2026. This conference is being co-hosted by the Christian Engineering Society and the Association of Christians in the Mathematical Sciences. The abstract deadline is November 1, so you only have a few days left if you are considering a paper submission! See the call for papers here, and find more conference information here.
CES Teaching Workshop
We are pleased to announce the launch of the Christian Engineering Teaching Workshop, a new initiative designed to equip engineering educators to teach Christianly – integrating faith, pedagogy, and mentorship in a distinctly Christian framework.
While existing workshops such as ExCEEd and NETI offer valuable training, they operate within a secular context. This new workshop, offered by the Christian Engineering Society and led by experienced engineering educators from several different Christian institutions, fills a critical gap by providing an authentically Christian approach to teaching in engineering education.
Date: Tuesday-Wednesday, May 26-27, 2026
Location: Calvin University, Grand Rapids, Michigan, in conjunction with the 2026 CES/ACMS Conference (May 27-30).
Workshop Focus Areas:
Faith Integration – Effective practices for integrating faith within the engineering discipline
Mechanics of Teaching – Organizing courses and classes in today’s digital age
Mentoring & Relationship Building – Cultivating impactful student interactions
Teaching Demonstrations – Techniques from seasoned educators
Teaching Practicum – Hands-on practice with feedback from experienced mentors
Participants will be grouped in pods to foster deep interaction and lasting fellowship. The workshop will focus on supporting faculty who are early in their teaching careers, but it will offer value for educators at all levels of experience.
This workshop represents a meaningful step toward strengthening Christian engineering education and building a vibrant network of faithful educators. Further details, including a link for registration, will follow within the next two weeks.
CES Opportunities for Involvement
These are exciting times for CES! Christian engineering programs continue to grow in size and number. In addition, more Christian professionals are asking how to live out their faith in their work, and more engineering students at secular institutions are looking for support in how to serve Christ in engineering and technology. These areas of growth continue to increase our CES activity and also our need for our members to be involved. Please contact Justin Vander Werff (president@christianengineering.org) if you would like to explore opportunities for greater involvement in CES.
