Upcoming events in 2024 and 2025
Our events this year are based on the recent book A Christian Field Guide to Technology for Engineers and Designers by Brue, Schuurman, and VanderLeest. Speakers will address different aspects of the question posed by the authors, "How can designing and using technology actually be a way of loving God and our neighbors?" Designated events are eligible for PDH credit.
Lunch webinar with speaker Matt Walsh, engineering missionary in Burkina Faso, on "Faith and Our Technology Dreams". PDH available.
"Done well, our technological dreams become reality in building God's kingdom. Done poorly, our technological dreams become nightmares that pervert creation and harm our neighbor." How can engineers—whether serving in remote West African villages or suburban south-central PA—animate their work with a biblical vision?
Wednesday October 30th, 12–12:45 pm. Registration required.Dinner meeting with speaker Doug Flemmens, Director of Engineering at Precision Custom Components, on "Technology and the Biblical Story". PDH available.
"God, through Christ, is now reconciling the world to himself. The demand for reconciliation has never been greater." How should we as engineers imitate and participate in God's reconciling work, but avoid crafting technological idols that merely prop up our illusions of autonomy and independence?
