We are a privately held Christian owned mid-size consumer products company. When I say Christian I mean that we stand on one fact, that Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of  God. There is only ONE way for men to be saved and that is thru the risen Savior. There is nothing we can do to add to that, and there is nothing  can diminish our position in Christ once we have placed our faith in him and been born again. We feel that the Great Commission applies to everyone who has put their faith in Jesus. Director of Engineering

Position Description

Reporting directly to the President of the company, the Director of Engineering will direct and execute all strategic Research and Development activities including new product development and sustained initiatives for improving existing product lines. This position will manage all engineering staff associated with the activities mentioned above as well as take the lead role in driving development projects, product innovation, and value engineering.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with Marketing, Finance, Operations, Sales, Quality Control/ Testing Compliance and  Production leadership. This position forms part of the company’s management staff and is expected to actively contribute to product line direction, profit plan goals, as well as continuous organizational improvements.
  • Manage the product development cycle on all new products from concept to launch, including specification, design, prototype, testing, and tooling.
  • Drive product design for manufacturability best practices, cost objectives and work closely with production staff to ensure a smooth transition into production and successful launch.
  • Spearhead improvement projects that result in significant reduction in time to market and overall improvement to engineering productivity.
  • Build department organizational capability by mentoring and coaching exist engineering team.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant area of study.
  • 10 years of experience in product development
  • Minimum 5 years of experience of professional employee management
  • Proven track record in building and managing a high performance engineering team meeting initiatives and driving successful results
  • Experience in off-shore production and working with International staff
  • Experience in the successful development of consumer products. Pet and Infant products experience a plus.
  • Experience in metal fabrication and various forms of plastic molding
  • Excellent organizational, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Expert proficiency in Solidworks and other software applications
